Celebrating America and Historic Colors

happy birthday

Red, White, and Paint

Today America turns 236! To celebrate I created this Olioboard featuring two festive color schemes and some rustic design pieces (and had way too much fun with it).  The left side incorporates more of a modern rustic look, while the right has a more traditional feel.

300 Years of Historic Color

Independence Day is time for reflecting on our past, and here at California Paints we have the perfect idea for how you should do so this 4th of July. By studying our historic color palettes of course! With the help of Historic New England, California Paints created two of the most authentic historic palettes in the industry; Historic Colors of America and 20th Century Historic InteriorColors of America. These collections include a variety of profound colors and artistic movements in America's history that span over three centuries.  That's even older than America! The 20th Century colors of America even include color stories that detail the namesake and the popular use of that particular color.  Did you know that the first Earth Day took place in 1970? And that the California Paints color by the same name was also commonly seen on exteriors during the equivalent decade? I think it’s time to start studying!

This 4th of July, California Paints invites you to explore American Paint Color History! Happy 4th, and as always happy scheming!
